Filling in the wellbeing blanks with Adam Jelic from Mi Goals

We are all busy and are trying hard to fulfill big dreams and goals, manage our long to do lists and have a social life! The art of doing this without sacrificing our most important assets, our bodies and our health, is the challenge we are all faced with day to day. All of us, no matter who we are, have to keep working at it and can learn from each other – so each Wednesday we will chat to a passionate bright spark to hear about what they are up to and fill in their wellbeing blanks!

Today we are filling in the wellbeing blanks with Adam Jelic the owner and mentor at Mi Goals. Mi Goals is a Melbourne based creative lifestyle brand which creates beautiful stationery products that help change your life.

To Adam to be well means: to feel awesome and energetic both physically and mentally. It’s about waking up with that bounce in my step and going out there and to have the health, energy and frame of mind to feel good during the day.  It means you are giving yourself the best shot at living a good life.

I have 2 jobs. They are running and building the Mi Goals business while my full time job is working as a Business development manager for the social enterprise Thankyou Group.

Doing some form of physical activity and making time to eat regularly and healthy are usually easy for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing.

Lately performing a solid 1 hour plus workout 3-4 times a week is usually hard for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing.

Definitely during both the  holiday periods and winter months it always seems to throw my wellbeing off track.

Refocusing on my goals and being conscious of my decisions about my general diet and exercise levels brings my wellbeing back on track

I usually sleep 7 hours per night. I’d love to sleep 8 hours per night.


Something I’ve found that really helps when it comes to my health, fitness and wellbeing is participating in team activities, when I played soccer for a team I would train 2-3 nights a week and play on the weekend. Doing this really helped manage stress and get me to be in the best physical shape possible. 

Something I’ve learnt over the years when it comes to health, fitness and wellbeing is that you just gotta keep it simple, basically eat healthy and just keep moving as much as you can throughout the day. I understand we are all busy but even if it is as simple as walking around the office block during lunch time, taking the stairs instead of escalators, or walking to your local shops instead of driving. We can all do simple things everyday to maintain our health and wellbeing.

The advice I would give to someone half my age when it comes to looking after their body is to find activities they enjoy to do. As I mentioned before being part of a team is one of the best ways to look after  both your physical health and mental health. Also get into good habits as early as you can, be disciplined and make the right choices for your body and general health on a day to day basis.  


The problem with being too obsessive and trying to be a perfectionist when it comes to your health and wellbeing is it can sometimes take over, you become so fixated with yourself and your health and wellbeing that it starts to effect different areas of your life. I think you train hard and be disciplined but its always important to keep it balanced with other areas of your life.

If my body stopped working my ability to do my work would be affected slightly.

If my body could talk right now the loudest thing that it would say / ask for is to push a little harder to get my health and body back to what it was a few years back.
