Filling in the wellbeing blanks with Fiona Caddies from White Zebra

We are all busy and are trying hard to fulfill big dreams and goals, manage our long to do lists and have a social life! The art of doing this without sacrificing our most important assets, our bodies and our health, is the challenge we are all faced with day to day. All of us, no matter who we are, have to keep working at it and can learn from each other – so each Wednesday we will chat to a passionate bright spark to hear about what they are up to and fill in their wellbeing blanks!

WZ-logo-with-mottoToday we are filling in the blanks with Fiona Caddies from White Zebra. With a background of personal training, nutrition and fat loss coaching, along with yoga teaching, Fiona saw that there was a gap in the industry for a site which collaborates with experts and collects top content in the field advising on the latest and greatest health and fitness information that was not entirely entry level. So White Zebra was born! It is an online educational lifestyle website designed for health enthusiasts who want to deepen and enhance their individual fitness and wellbeing. Inspired by the distinctive stripes of a Zebra, (each cloaked in their own ‘personal barcode’), the website sports a concentration of top tips, scientific content and intelligence from esteemed Doctors, Nutritionists, Fitness Coaches and ‘Organic Lovers.’ Coined as an online ‘health and fitness conference’ for the ‘hyperactively healthy’ community, Fiona invites everyone to join the White Zebra Movement to help shape and/or re-shape holistic wellbeing at the click of a button!Let’s hear what Fiona has to say:

Something I’m really excited about at the moment is the new class being released at Power Living (and also the opening of the Power Living BONDI studio). This class is going to be fabulous for developing people’s practice and strengthening their yoga poses (asana) whilst also helping to prevent injuries across all areas of sport, yoga and training.

I have 3 jobs. I teach vinyasa yoga to full-time ballerinas to develop strength and flexibility in their bodies and minds. I work with one-on-one clients to get them in tip top shape, coaching strength and fitness training along with changing their nutrition and lifestyle. I develop the content on and work with people and experts in the health, wellness and fitness industry to help promote their business and convey their message to the and committing to turning up for exercise is usually easy for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing.

Sleep is usually hard for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing. I get carried away at night and excited with ideas morning and night which starts me researching and not getting my full 8-9hrs of sleep, leaving me tired and running on cortisol.

Chocolate always seem to throw my wellbeing off track.

Magnesium and healthy cacao snacks on hand brings my wellbeing back on track.

I usually sleep 7 hours per night. I’d like to sleep 9 hours per night.

Something I’ve found that really helps when it comes to my health, fitness and wellbeing is being prepared. Preparation and planning is key!

Something I’ve learnt over the years when it comes to health, fitness and wellbeing is no one fits in a one-size-fits-all plan – nutrition, yoga or strength.

The advice I would give to someone half my age when it comes to looking after their body is be comfortable in your discomfort. Shine from the inside out, even if you’re in the minority. Don’t try to fit into a mould. When you shine, everyone is attracted to you, they want what you have and will want to follow you. Inner beauty is infectious 🙂

The problem with being too obsessive and trying to be a perfectionist when it comes to your health and wellbeing is you are bound by the focus group. This can lead to missing out on social events with friends or you have to hang out with people doing exactly the same as you. I believe in maintaining beautiful balance in my life which means I can still have a wine with my wine drinking friends and the world is not going to end.

If my body stopped working my ability to do my work would be limited in the way I am working now (my world as I know it) however, there are many ways to skin a cat. It’s about creating a new path and working with the new cards I’ve been dealt.

If my body could talk right now the loudest thing that it would say / ask for is self love for mind, body and spirit. Take a rest and simply stop, even for 5 mins. This is something I say to myself each day and is a constant work in progress.
