Filling in the wellbeing blanks with Megan Azer from Megan Azer Chiropractor
We are all busy and are trying hard to fulfill big dreams and goals, manage our long to do lists and have a social life! The art of doing this without sacrificing our most important assets, our bodies and our health, is the challenge we are all faced with day to day. All of us, no matter who we are, have to keep working at it and can learn from each other – so each Wednesday we will chat to a passionate bright spark to hear about what they are up to and fill in their wellbeing blanks!
Today we are filling in the blanks with Megan Azer from Vitachi Wellness & Rowen D’Souza Chiropractic. Megan is a passionate Chiropractor and Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) Practitioner. She loves treating people of all ages, helping them achieve better health and wellness. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine, and pelvis) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. Neuro-Emotional Technique is a muscle testing system which identifies and alleviates the internal stressors that are creating barriers to health and success.
Megan believes strongly that the body has the ability to heal itself. Through Chiropractic care, providing structural correction and my passion for Neuro-Emotional Technique, her aim is to provide her patients with holistic health care – physically, chemically and emotionally.Let’s hear what Megan has to say:
To Megan to be well means: Just recently I read a quote by B.K.S. Iyengar – “Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.” This really resonated with me and my approach to health and wellbeing.
Something I’m really excited about at the moment is treating children. I’m noticing that there’s growing anxiety and sleep issues with children, and I’ve enjoyed seeing great results in practice with Chiropractic care calming their nervous system, and NET reducing their stress. I find children respond very quickly to treatment as they haven’t had the years of poor patterns within the body that we do as adults. The sooner we get on top of these issues the better!
I also love working with entrepreneurs utilising NET. This technique helps to identify any blocks one is having in achieving what they want due to limiting belief systems – which may be in place from a very young age. These false beliefs are “stuck” in our subconscious. NET is a powerful intervention which not only helps identify these subconscious beliefs, but can clear them – for good!
Keeping my body aligned with regular Chiropractic treatment is usually easy for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing.
Drinking enough water is usually hard for me when it comes to managing my wellbeing.
Lack of sleep always seems to throw my wellbeing off track.
Good quality sleep, a Chiropractic adjustment and NET brings my wellbeing back on track
I usually sleep 8 hours per night. I’d like to sleep 9-10 hours per night.
Something I’ve found that really helps when it comes to my health, fitness and wellbeing is Yoga and Pilates. I aim to attend these classes twice a week. I find yoga to be a great way for my body to gently stretch, and relax. I’ve found Restorative yoga to be excellent for my body and mind. Pilates has been great for me to maintain a strong posture. Over the last few years due to my work I’ve noticed my posture starting to suffer a little, so starting reformer Pilates classes has been excellent. I need to practice what I preach after all!
Something I’ve learnt over the years when it comes to health, fitness and wellbeing is to listen to my body. Rest when I need to rest, don’t overcommit myself.
The advice I would give to someone half my age when it comes to looking after their body is you’re not invincible, start some kind of regular care early – Chiropractic, massage, exercise, NET, whatever works for you. Prevention is better than a cure!
The problem with being too obsessive and trying to be a perfectionist when it comes to your health and wellbeing is you’re setting yourself up to fall. The perfectionist mentality means you’re never really going to be satisfied with your results. We have to be ok with what is first and foremost, before we can make a change.
If my body stopped working my ability to do my work would be near impossible. As a Chiropractor, I need my body to be functioning at its best as it’s quite a physical job. The better I feel, the better I serve my patients.
If my body could talk right now the loudest thing that it would say / ask for is exercise more and to decrease the carbs haha. On a positive note it would say don’t be too hard on yourself – all things in moderation!
