Carpe Diem Wellbeing is dedicated to your health and happiness.

We are excited about bringing you effective programs, events and products to get you re-inspired about your body and your life.  Our goal is to help you be healthier and happier so that you can be your best, and live your best life – whatever that means to you.

Why we exist? Because of you!

Your body doesn’t feel as good as you want it to.  It would be great to lose a few kilos, get stronger, fitter and to feel good in your clothes.  You want to feel lighter and more energetic.

But you can’t seem to get motivated and stick to a consistent exercise routine. Things always seem to get in the way, work commitments, your social life, the snooze button and the voices in your head.

You’re confused and uninspired about food.  Why does it seems so freekin hard to work out what to eat.  You’re not sure whether to count calories or carbs or eat more meat or less meat. There’s conflicting information everywhere you look and it’s tiring trying to work it all out. You know you’re leaning on sugar at 3pm and after dinner and you know you shouldn’t be, but you can’t help it.

You’ve tried diets and eating regimes and you do try to read about food and find new recipes, but it’s just too confusing. You haven’t found something that works for you and your life. You just want to understand the basics, eat healthy and not have to think so much about it.

You feel like you’re over thinking everything and your mind seems clouded by self doubt and negativity. You’re not nice to yourself.  Your levels of self belief and self esteem are lower than you’d like. You would never talk to a friend the way to talk to yourself. You know this isn’t good and you’re not helping yourself.  You know that you should change but you’re not sure how.

You’ve read about affirmations but they just don’t feel authentic. You’ve tried a counselor and that helped for a while. You’re not sure how to clear your mind and make it more positive and productive.  You’re not sure how to believe in yourself and love yourself more.

And to make matters more difficult, you’re overwhelmed and over committed. You don’t know how to find the time to do everything you need to do, let alone the things you want to do.  You try to say no and find time for you, but life just seems to get so busy.  You always find yourself using the excuse ‘I have no time’.  You’re tired and life feels unbalanced but the treadmill of life is on high and it’s hard to slow it down.

You just want to feel happy, confident and healthy.  You want to feel content, calm and in control.  You don’t need perfection, you just want a routine and a flow in your life that leaves you feeling… good.  Is that too much to ask?

No it’s not.

We understand. We understand where you are at and what you are going through.

You are not alone.  We are here for you, literally.  This is why we exist.

We are passionate about helping you. Talking to you. Listening to you. Educating you. Inspiring you. Workshopping with you. Helping you. Laughing with you. Crying with you. Sharing with you. Moving forward with you.

We are busy creating things – products / workshops / information / services / solutions / books / resources / events – that can help you.

We look forward to continuing to share these and your journey with you.

We love you and we love your body.

We are Carpe Diem Wellbeing. xx

JACQUIE SHARPLES

Restrictive diets that exclude important food groups, boring exercise regimes and unproductive ways of thinking  – Jacquie Sharples doesn’t have time for it and neither do you. She’s about real changes and real results. She’s about intelligent training with simple steps to get you loving your body – a real body that lives a real life.

Introduced to healthy living through falling in love with athletics at the age of five, Jacquie has spent the majority of her life running, jumping and staying active. She has been training at the highest levels in athletics since she was in school when she was Victoria champion in the triple jump and first competed Nationally in the triple jump and hurdles. In 2009 Jacquie was in the top 8 at the Commonwealth Games trials in the 400m hurdles and is now a pole vaulter.

Although she loved to move, a career in fitness and wellbeing wasn’t always on the cards for Jacquie. She completed a double degree in Engineering and Commerce at the University of Melbourne in 2004 and worked as an engineer in the water industry in Melbourne. Despite enjoying her work she couldn’t ignore her passion for health and fitness. In 2007 Jacquie co-founded Carpe Diem Wellbeing and focused on providing personal training and group fitness services. She gained qualifications in Certificate III and IV in Fitness and a range of specialist certifications.

While juggling multiple enterprises herself, full time work as an engineer, running a part time business and training as an athlete, Jacquie learnt first hand why so many professionals find it hard to give their body the attention it deserves. Jacquie couldn’t help but see how hard most professionals find it to balance their body and their busy work and social lives.

After years of hearing beautiful, intelligent women lament about the frustration they felt for their bodies, Jacquie could see that most of them were simply confused by the abundance of conflicting information around and didn’t give their own wellbeing the time & energy it deserved.

In 2012 she decided to focus her energy full time into what she cared most about, helping intelligent poeple see fact from fiction and achieve maximum results in their health and wellbeing.

She took the leap and moved from her career as an engineer and re-focused her business, Carpe Diem Wellbeing, to provide more effective and holistic wellbeing programs. She created the bodylove coaching program and continues to build Carpe Diem Wellbeing into a business devoted to intelligent and life changing wellbeing programs for her clients.

In 2013 she published her first book ,“If your body could talk”, a collection of letters written from your body to you. Unlike any other fitness and wellbeing book, it is written from the body’s point of view. The book is available at all major e-retailers in paperback and e-book.

Jacquie currently writes, speaks and coaches her clients on four key areas – mindset, balance, movement and menu. Jacquie is extremely passionate about educating and inspiring others to action and is on a mission to help spread bodylove.

CLAIRE BAXTER

Claire offers extensive strength and conditioning knowledge based on over 15 years of competitive sport at an elite level. Claire’s athletic background is like no other.  Claire represented Australia in the Commonwealth Games in the mountain bike and was a professional road cyclist, competing in Italy and Belgium.  She then launched into competitive athletics specialising in the 400m, 80om and 1500m.  Not stopping there in the last few years she has turned her abilities to competitive kick boxing, muay thai and brazillian jiu jitsu (DJJ).

Her background matched with the formal training gives Claire a unique and powerful knowledge base to help others with their health and fitness.  Claire draws on technique and fitness methods from an array of running and sprinting drills, boxing combinations, kick-boxing training, Olympic-weightlifting technique and BJJ maneuvers. Claire thinks “the important thing is having goals: having the desire to change and improve. It doesn’t matter to me whether you are working towards a high-end, elite performance goal, or more modest health and general fitness goals. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. If you have the will, then I will show you the way.  Fitness is a life-long commitment; it’s also one of the most wonderful, progressive and enjoyable commitments you’ll ever have.”

LJ’s TIP FOR YOU: “Failing to plan, is planning to fail!”  You need to plan your exercise routine into your life and it can be fun!”

The meaning behind the name.

Pronounced: kar – pay dee – ‘em

Definition: Carpe Diem: phrase from a Latin poem by Horace, it means: “Seize the Day”.

Other interpretations:
‘Seize the present opportunity; improve time’, ‘Enjoy the day’, ‘Pluck the day when it’s ripe’

Our interpretation:
Life really is short. We often have dreams, goals & visions about our lives. They may be far reaching & unclear or planned out & ready to go, either way – the time is now.  Stop putting off goals & dreams and start now.  Small changes can make big differences and long journeys start with one step.

Carpe Diem – Sieze the Day.
